Award-winning East African vocalist & composer Somi will be live in Johannesburg on Thursday, October 3rd. Originally from Rwanda and Uganda, but based in Harlem, Somi has built a career of transatlantic sonicism and storytelling that interrogates what “jazz” and “African music” mean – both singularly and to each other. Joined by longtime friend and collaborator pianist Nduduzo Makhathini, the evening will be a stark but lush offering of sound and story. Special guests to join as well.
