Johannesburg – January 28th, 2019 – NBCUniversal International Networks (NBCUIN) today announced that South African music artists Zionruts Family andByLwansta have joined forces to record a rendition of the popular reggae trackBad Boys, to complement the launch of Bulletproof on UNIVERSAL TV. Originally performed by Jamaican band Inner Circle, this new version of the song was commissioned by NBCUIN to accompany the on-air marketing campaign promoting the launch of the new thriller series on 28th January at 8pm on DStv channel 117. The single, Bad Boys (Bulletproof Mix) is free to download in Africa via Sound Cloud and also features on the Bulletproof promotional trailer.
Bad Boys (Bulletproof Mix) was commissioned for the on-air marketing campaign accompanying the tag line: ‘London’s Bad Boys.’ The artists were chosen to blend the old and the new with Zionruts Family bringing a traditional old school reggae band to the mix and ByLwansta providing a fresh, hip hop twist; together they created a localised take on the original track with new lyrics.
Set in London, Bulletproof is an action-packed thrill ride following two cops and best friends Bishop and Pike played by Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Doctor Who) andAshley Walters (Get Rich or Die Tryin’). Bonded by the same moral code – despite their very different backgrounds – Bishop and Pike tackle the bad guys in their own uncompromising style, all while maintaining their friendship, their relationships and taking on ghosts from the past.
Bulletproof launches on UNIVERSAL TV on 28th January at 8pm on DStv channel 117.
