Emerging South African artist UDOTI UDEMEDi steps boldly into the evolving world of Three Step music with the release of his powerful new single, “Asambeni” featuring Born Kxng, K-Zaka and Deestar.
Released through Ziiki Media SA, the single not only introduces a deeper and more spiritual side to UDOTI UDEMEDi’s artistry, but also serves as the first glimpse into a forthcoming album expected later this June. Before the album release, fans can also expect another single from the rising artist as he continues building momentum within the South African music scene.
Rooted in spirituality, perseverance and the realities of chasing success, “Asambeni” is more than just a song. It is a prayer for power, direction and breakthrough. Inspired by the symbolic journey to the mountain, the track speaks to asking God and the ancestors to remove obstacles, clear the path and provide the strength needed to succeed in life and career.
Written and recorded just weeks ago at Ziiki Media, the single was born from a five-day creative music camp hosted by Ziiki Media SA in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, from 23 February to 27 February 2026. The camp brought together a collective of emerging artists and creatives including K-Zaka, Ice Cue, Snaka and others, with the goal of creating music for an upcoming compilation project while further establishing Ziiki Media’s growing footprint within the industry.
Operating across South Africa, West Africa, East Africa and South Asia, Ziiki Media is a dynamic entertainment company providing distribution and label services to emerging and established artists alike. UDOTI UDEMEDi is one of the artists currently receiving label services and development support through the company.
The creative camp became the foundation for “Asambeni” and several additional tracks expected to appear on the forthcoming album. What started as conversations around the pressures of success and the realities of the industry soon evolved into an intentional collaboration centered around spirituality, purpose and ambition.
“Asambeni is about going to the mountain and praying for power. It’s for everyone fighting for success who needs the path cleared so they can move forward,” says UDOTI UDEMEDi.
Built on the sonic foundation of Three Step, the latest evolution of Amapiano, “Asambeni” delivers rhythmic intensity while introducing a more spiritual and emotionally driven layer to the genre. The track’s communal call-and-response structure creates a chant-like experience that listeners can feel collectively, making it equally suited for introspection and celebration.
Known for blending spiritual themes with contemporary South African sounds, UDOTI UDEMEDi continues to establish himself as one of KwaZulu-Natal’s promising new voices. Originally from Pietermaritzburg, the rising artist uses music to reflect the hustle, struggles and unwavering belief that success is possible through both faith and hard work.
“We made this at Ziiki Media after starting it at the Sandton camp. It’s a song that everyone in the industry can relate to because we’re all chasing the same thing,” he adds.
“Asambeni” also marks a major milestone for the artist as his first official release fully embracing the Three Step sound. With production credits to K-Zaga & Deestar, and a vocal feature from Born Kxng, the single captures the collective experiences of emerging artists navigating ambition, purpose and the pursuit of greatness.
With themes of resilience, determination and spiritual grounding, “Asambeni” is set to resonate with anyone fighting for their breakthrough while reminding listeners that success requires both prayer and persistence.
