As one of the leading food and fashion events in Southern Africa, Luju celebrates the sophistication and elegance of African style, cultures, creative design and delicacies through culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs, connoisseur-led premium wine and whiskey showcases and a world-class regional fashion show.
The festival’s ethos and call to action is “A Return to the African Future”. It is a bold declaration of Africa’s evolving story, and an invitation to reclaim our precolonial heritage, reimagine our African identity and reconnect with the traditions that sustained our forefathers, in our journey towards shaping a future nourished by African innovation.
In line with this ethos, Luju consciously uses the festival platform to elevate and promote the creative economy, sustainability and small-business growth, through a series of conferences, training events and competitions.
MUSIC PROGRAMME
Along with a stellar lineup of chefs and fashion designers, Luju 2025’s music programme will showcase some of the finest musicians, singers and DJs in Eswatini, and across Africa. From experimental Jazz and sultry Afro Soul to high energy dancefloor beats, Luju 2025 has the vibes!
CULINARY THEME: The Forgotten Seeds
This year, we unearth the potential of seeds that anchor sustainable futures. From ancient crop varieties to intergenerational wisdom, we celebrate and draw inspiration from how indigenous practices and people harmonized with nature’s rhythms. By reviving and cultivating these seeds of knowledge, heritage and biodiversity, we bridge ancestral ingenuity and contemporary innovation, working towards food sovereignty, economic empowerment, and culinary reimagining.
FASHION THEME: Threads of Time: African Textiles Past, Present & Future
Threads of Time makes reference to the rich tapestry of African cultural wisdom as expressed through the evolution of African textiles, fashion and adornment over the years. This theme encourages festival attendees to explore the history, materials, inspiration and storytelling behind African textiles, and to consider how these textiles have transformed alongside fashion trends and influences throughout the years.
