Johannesburg – 15 April 2021: The search for the best b-boy and b-girl for 2021 in South Africa is nearly over. Red Bull BC One has been on the search for the best breakers to showcase their finest moves at the national final which will be livestreamed on Red Bull TV on Saturday 24 April at 7PM.
The four qualifying workshops and cypher battles in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Oudtshoorn and Cape Town culminated in the victory of 20 of the best breakers in the country. Hosted by Mel Rock, the full show including the b-boy and b-girl finals will be livestreamed across Red Bull TV, Facebook and YouTube for audiences to watch. The 16 b-boys and 4 b-girls will go head-to-head on 24 April to crown the best b-boy and b-girl to represent South Africa at the Red Bull BC One World Final in November 2021.
In celebration of the competition and the breaking culture, Red Bull BC One created a breakbeat track titled ‘Cypher’. Produced by DJ Ready D alongside DJ Azuhl, the dynamic track features rapper Youngsta CPT and will be performed live for the very first time at the national finals. Red Bull BC One has South Africa’s most influential voices in the local breaking space judging this exhilarating competition, these are Vouks, Foxxie, Ambrose, Bear and Vee. Vouks shared what the judging panel will be looking for on the day. “Having the moves as a breaker is a must, but what is equally important is showcasing your character, as this will make the moves stand out. Going into the world final, this is vitally important as a breaker as you will be competing with the best in the world. Every time you battle on the floor, dance like it’s your last dance” says Vouks.
