The First Lady of Sliq Records is set to release her highly anticipated debut EP, Nthabiseng, a heartfelt tribute to her late mother and lifelong hero. This deeply personal Afro/Pop project explores themes of love, heartbreak, and healing, blending traditional influences with contemporary production to create a sound that is both authentic and soul-stirring.
Nthabiseng features standout collaborations with Sannere, Wave Rhyder, Phoka Ea Boroa, and Litshepe, alongside production from a powerhouse lineup of Flasch Cortez, Morientie M, Wave Rhyder, LizwiWokuqala, Viceboybeatz, and Troy.
The release follows a period of profound personal loss for Puleng. In 2024, she survived a tragic accident that claimed the lives of her close friends and collaborators Malome Vector, LizwiWokuqala, and their video director Damos. Left hospitalized and recovering, Puleng faced the challenge of returning to the studio while carrying the weight of grief and remembrance.
Through prayer, perseverance, and faith, she found strength in her art turning pain into purpose. Nthabiseng reflects that journey: an EP that captures resilience, vulnerability, Nthabiseng marks a coming-of-age moment for Puleng Phoofolo, an artist whose voice and vision transcend genres and borders. With its rich Afro-soul textures and emotional storytelling, the EP stands as one of the year’s most compelling releases, cementing Puleng’s place as one of South Africa’s brightest rising voices.
