Zulu vocal group Soulphiatown-made up of Mxolisi Madondo, Malusi Gumede and Siboniso Mbhele-are an Afro-funk ensemble with equal amounts of soul and groove. The trio’s latest single “Abupheli” is an upbeat, romantic dedication to everlasting beauty. “Abupheli” contains sly guitarwork that fuses with vocalist’s richly textured tones of the trio.

In keeping with the group’s ethos, this single is a youthful take on the essence of Sophiatown and combines traditional African melodies with a funky take on jazz and soul.

“The extraordinary song was written by Ntsika from the renowned band The Soil who also features on the single, Abupheli truly resonates with us and it’s an ode to all women that celebrates their indescribable beauty “declared the trio. The single has a catchy feel and reaffirms the acknowledgement of women’s beauty in all shapes or form.

This is a definite pick me up when all is gloomy.
