Staff Picks

One Day at a Time (Season 3)
Stars: Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Stephen Tobolowsky, Rita Moreno

One of television’s best sitcoms is residing on Netflix. Back for a third time is the new school remake of One Day at a Time, which is the only place you can find hilariously real conversations on race, identity, and family all under one roof. With so few mainstream series following Latino households, it’s great to see a series that can be this woke while still being this funny.

High Flying Bird
Stars: André Holland, Zazie Beetz, Melvin Gregg, Sonja Sohn, Zachary Quinto, Kyle MacLachlan, Bill Duke

While this new Netflix original film might feel like He Got Game 2K19, the fact that this is from Steven Soderbergh and features top tier talent like André Holland (Moonlight), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), and Melvin Gregg (American Vandal Season 2) has us intrigued. Set within a three-day time period, this film follows sports agent Ray Burke (Holland) as he battles to stay one step ahead of the basketball players and the league for true domination. If the behind-the-scenes of how sports deals get done is up your alley, this could be the film for you.
