Candy Flow RSA and ShennyDaDeejay have officially dropped their latest joint project, ‘Road 2 Dubai Mafias’, a five-track Amapiano EP. This release is a bold step in their sonic evolution, merging gritty underground textures with a futuristic element to it. The duo, both born and raised in Standerton, Mpumalanga, are no strangers to pushing boundaries. Following the success of their 2024 project ‘House of Dubai’, which featured DJ Stopper, they return with a darker, more conceptual record.

The standout focus track, ‘Ngeke Bas’thuse’, is a no-holds-barred street anthem which is a sonic middle finger to doubt and opposition. Translating loosely to ‘they won’t succeed’, the track delivers a powerful message about trusting your own abilities and not letting your enemies win. With haunting melodies, layered synths, and a deep, rolling log drum groove, it’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever had to rise above negativity and prove their worth, all while keeping the party moving. It sets the tone for the rest of the project, which follows through with punchy percussion, groovy basslines, and street energy. ‘House 14 (Papta Dubai)’ is another defining track for the EP, capturing the style so well and standing out as one that the crowd will most likely gravitate towards. Each track carries its own weight while staying true to the duo’s signature style.

‘Road 2 Dubai Mafias’ also builds on the duo’s pioneering role in developing the ‘Papta Dubai’ Amapiano sub-genre, a style spearheaded by the duo that borrows from Gqom with looped chants, bass-heavy rhythms, and signature log drum drops. Tracks like ‘Piano Babies’, which previously made waves on social media, are proof that their experimental sound is connecting with a wide and growing audience.

Throughout their journey, Candy Flow RSA and ShennyDaDeejay have collaborated with some of the game’s top talents, including DJ Stokie, Shaun Stylist, CowBoii, and Uncle Ken, proving time and again that they are relevant. Their ability to hold their own while innovating within Amapiano continues to set them apart.
