Johannesburg, South Africa – Friday, 14 May 2021, Speedy releases hist first single of the year, Khumbula, featuring Nhlanhla Nciza.

Acclaimed vocalist, Speedy has released his long awaited single, Khumbula, which features musical veteran, Nhlanhla Mafu. Khumbula sees the two musicians from legendary groups, Bongo Maffin and Mafikizolo explore the thin line of Amapiano with afro-pop elements.

The two have been hard at work promoting the single through radio and television. Already the single has had its radio debut on Metro FM’s Morning Flava and was received favorably by listeners.

The single counts as the second single released from Speedy’s upcoming album, The Gift. The significance of the upcoming album is that it will mark the end of a 14-year hiatus since Speedy last released a solo project.

About Khumbula:

Khumbula is an experimental traditional afro-pop sound fused with elements of afrobeat, giving the song great continental and international appeal.

Khumbula deals with missing home, the yearning that comes with it, and longing for a return to one’s roots. The track features Nhlanhla, a legend in her own right, and one half of the multi-award-winning kwaito and Afropop duo, Mafikizolo, who adds her husky tone to the track, and the two produce an earnest and deeply felt melodic arrangement.
