WEST COAST HIP-HOP LEGEND DJ QUIK RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “CLASS”

SET TO HIT THE ROAD ON THE CALI CLASSIC TOUR WITH MACK 10, WARREN G, & MORE

10th SOLO LP COMING THIS SUMMER

(March 31, 2023 – Los Angeles, CA) Today, platinum-certified West Coast hip-hop icon, DJ Quik returns with a brand-new single entitled “Class.” It notably paves the way for his anxiously awaited 10th full-length LP—due out under a newly minted partnership between his own Mad Science Recordings and Compound Interest.

Listen to “Class” HERE.

The track evokes classic West Coast spirit with its soulful harmonies, jazz-y guitar, and laidback beat. At the same time, Quik’s flows remain as smooth and slick as ever as he urges, “Bounce it, drop it, roll it round,” and promises, “Still make bangers, but I don’t bang. Sometimes rhyme, then I sing.” With airtight rhymes and head-nodding hooks, Quik is in a “class” all his own.

Stay tuned for the premiere of a cinematic music video to accompany the track.

Next up, Quik joins forces with West Coast heavyweights Mack 10, Warren G, The Dogg Pound (Daz & Kurupt), Suga Free, Amanda Perez and Kid Frostfor the “Cali Classic Tour.” It launches on April 15 at Ector Theater in Odessa, TX, rolls through big cities up and down the West Coast, and finishes up on July 30 in Santa Maria, CA at Elks Event Center. The full confirmed itinerary is enclosed.

Quik’s forthcoming album will be his first proper project since the acclaimed 2017 collaboration Rosecrans with Problem, which boasted features from the likes of Game, Wiz Khalifa, Dom Kennedy, and more.

Get ready for Quik’s next era now.

As one of the purveyors of the West Coast hip-hop revolution, DJ Quik has delivered a series of enduring and influential classics. Of course, he introduced himself on the platinum Quik Is The Name in 1991, which notably graced Rolling Stone’s “The 200 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time,” Complex’s “The 50 Greatest Debut Albums in Hip-Hop History,” and The Source’s “100 Greatest Rap Albums of All Time.” Its 1992 follow-up, Way 2 Fonky, went platinum and even landed on Chris Rock’s “Top 25 Hip-Hop Albums of All Time.” With a catalog highlighted by the platinum Safe + Sound [1995] and the gold Rhythm-al-ism[1998], he has also gathered over 100 million streams powered by “Dollaz + Sense,” “Tonite,” “Pitch In OnA Party,” and many other anthems. Along the way, he appeared on HBO’s Entourage and lent his touch as a producer to blockbusters such as JAY-Z’s The Black Album, 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, and Ludacris’s The Red Light District, to name a few.

However, he’s as fresh and fiery as ever in 2023. Stay tuned for more!
