Johannesburg, South Africa – Monday, 25 October 2021 – Universal Music Africa celebrates four wins at first annual South African Amapiano Awards.
The first annual South African Amapiano Awards took place on Saturday, 23 October 2021. The glitzy award ceremony is aimed at honouring the different voices in Amapiano that have propelled and pioneered in the house sub-genre. Following the festivities, Universal Music Africa would like to celebrate its artists who walked away with trophies.

DJ Melzi proved thee reason he is deemed as the 19 Year Old King of Amapiano with his first win, which not only surprised fans but him too as he wrote that, “Thank you for all the support that you guys put in! This means something to me guys , first award at 19 You guys rock kannete (honestly). I appreciate all the time and effort you guys took to vote for me. I trust there are many more to follow this milestone.”
Amapiano pioneer and living legend within the genre, DJ Stokie kept it short and sweet in reflecting on his monumental win by stating that, “It’s home! Thank you so much.”
