Wednesday, 06 March 2024, Johannesburg South Africa: South African dance music producer and businessman, Mr Jazziq celebrates his birthday with the community that raised him.
Most recognized as one of the pioneers of Amapiano, Mr Jazziq celebrated 30 years of life this past weekend and to show gratitude to the man above, the star insisted on spending his birthday with the less fortunate.
Alexandra township, based in the north of Johannesburg is one of South Africa’s oldest townships and birthplace of the musician who was born Tumelo Manyoni. Raised by his grandmother, Mr Jazziq spent his foundation phase in the streets of Alexandra where poverty is no stranger.
Growing up, I never used to think we were poor cause everyone I grew up around, lived in the same block of flats as me and ate the same food we ate. I only realized that we were less fortunate when I went to a multiracial school and started noticing the drastic difference between Sandton and Alex. This difference inspired me to work hard so I can come back home and give back to my people – expressed Mr Jazziq
Utilizing his resources, family and friends the musician/businessman decided to spend his 30th birthday a little different this year and opened the doors of his restaurant and day club, Vibes on Main in Alexandra to the less fortunate and give away food parcels alongside his industry friends.
The food parcels were distributed amongst old people, women and children who live around the area as well as special celebrity appearances from Robot Boii and Mvelo Makhanya who both lent a helping hand, in Mr Jazziq’s initiative to feed 30 families on his 30th birthday on the 3rd of March.
I always spend my birthday with friends or family but this year since I am entering the best years of my life, I wanted to first thank God for the gift of life and to give back to the soil that gave birth to me and my love for music. Without Alex there would be no Jazziq and I felt that I needed to spend my birthday this way. – said Jazziq
