The Sit Down with Olwethu is an event that seeks to empower and speak on various topics that are generally not spoken about by parents or potential parents. Set to take place on 4 April 2020 at Sandton’s WeWork space, the conference will be bringing multi-generational thought leaders and experts to be the bridge of information to the everyday woman who seeks to gain insight into the dynamics of parenting, careers, wellness, finances and relationships. “Optimal growth is the theme for this sit-down conference which promises the millennial woman and modern mother life-altering topics and conversations,” says Olwethu, the digital doula; digital media entrepreneur and mother of three who conceived the conference.

The TedX style conference will feature five keynote speakers and eight panelists from all over Africa. These speakers include Arese Ugwu, the groundbreaking author of The Smart Money Woman, who will be heading the Finance segment. Aisha Pandor, co-founder and CEO of Sweep South, will be leading the Career segment. Kojo Baffoe, who will be heading the Parenting segment, is not only a father of two but also an esteemed writer, MC, speaker and content strategist.

Guests can also expect panelists such as Jamil Khan, author of Khamr: The Makings of a Waterslams, in the Relationship segment. Phumeza Langa, who is the founder of #TheSisterHoodHour, will be facilitating the Vulnerability workshop. Raelene Rorke will be using her experience as co-founder of Spring Age and CEO of Indica to help facilitate the Career Pivoting segment. Dr Ela Manga, the founder of Breathwork Africa, a leading voice in the field of mind-body medicine and wellness, will help facilitate the conversations in the Wellness segment. Zimase Mabuse, editor of the Corporate Canvas and one of Destiny magazine’s Top 40 game changers under 40, will be one of the panelists in the Career segment.

Olwethu explains the inspiration behind The Sit Down saying: “There is this ‘Superwoman’ syndrome that gets thrown about when women have children. As if we are bulletproof and have all aspects of balancing life, love, parenting and work figured out, therefore we don’t ask for help or advice. Thus, the birth of The Sit Down – we aim to ask all the difficult questions and get answers from experts in all kinds of fields.”

She continues: “We have collaborated with VBS Luxury Group so attendees can expect a beautiful time which will be nothing short of a visual, auditory and spiritual experience. With Optimal being the theme of the event, expect optimal growth, optimal learning and optimal experiences.”
