About Mazz

Born and bred in the forgotten parts of Ekurhuleni Kwa-Thema a so called ghetto. Mazz shares the same fate as millions of other young South Africans; poverty, inequality and unemployment. The so called triple challenges in South Africa brings out from the bosom of its malnourished belly some of the most innovative and resilient young people this world has ever seen, and it would be a grave injustice to not count Mazz as one of those.

Mazz’s rejection of dogma has set him apart from his counterparts and this my friends is clearly documented in his music. Influenced by many hip hop greats young and old, Mazz amalgamates this to form something almost completely new to the listener’s ears. His approach is technical and very artistic, his use of the figurative language is something that continues to leave most of us in awe and this can be attributed to the way this “Mrapper” creates artistic space within the confines of hip hop to deliver his message.

Mazz has continued to permeate the game by working with emerging artists such as Tyrant the rapper and with one of KZN’s best lyricists, Young Cannibal. Journeying and learning by making strides for himself, 2017 was a remarkable year for him, he has made his debut television show, One Mic a national rap battle league broadcasted on SABC 1. Accolades and biggest achievements was sharing the same stage with legendary and Iconic South African rapper, Proverb, through a movement in Soweto called Slaghuis, his reputation extended through performing alongside the likes of artists like Reason, okmalumkoolkat and Flexboogie, on a charity gig organized by Vega school of Art and Brand communication on the 16TH of June 2017.

Lastly he was acknowledged at home as the Lyricist of the year through an award from Springs Hip hop awards, founded by Tshepo Moagi (Tptoes) founder of this event. Another television appearance was through Soweto TV on Slaghuis cyphers, and shared the same mic with the known Soweto legend Siyashezi.

There might BE no telling where this type of Emcee is headed, but he is highly saturated with positive energy and substance. He emphasises the importance of uniqueness, and less carbon copy mentality, since everyone does what is accepted, he intends to pave a path for people who feel they do not have a strong opinion and always feel like they don’t belong anywhere, so he shrewdly uses this art form as a medium of expression to channel positive to the listener.
