For the first time in UEFA history the trophy was on display in South Africa.
The legendary soccer hero from England, Ryan Giggs, made his appearance in South Africa to take the Heineken UCL Trophy on tour. Giggs has, together with Manchester United Football Club teammates, won the trophy twice in his soccer career.
The tour started on March 5 in Sandton when the Heineken UCL Trophy was on display while the public was granted the opportunity on Wednesday to view it at the Mandela Square in Sandton. The Heineken UEFA Championship Trophy was on display for the media to view and interview Giggs.
Giggs was joined by the marketing manager of Heineken, Lauren Muller, UEFA PR officer Richard van Poortvliet and media sports personality Minnie Dlamini Jones.
South Africa’s own legend Steven Pienaar and football fanatic media personality Lunga Shabalala were also present. The Heineken UCL Trophy tour will be continued during the week in Durban.
