Johannesburg, South Africa – Friday, 26 November 2021 – DJ STOKIE RELEASE NEW EP, SOKE S’BONE.
Very few producer-DJs locally can say they have had a year as prosperous as Soweto’s Superman, DJ Stokie. His 2020 album, My Journey finally received the acclaim it deserved with leading singles like iPiano e’Soweto becoming of the biggest songs of the year. Not only that, but DJ Stokie’s contribution to amapiano was documented with the release of the documentary, iPiano e’Soweto.
In light of the blessed year he has had, the first recipient of the Best Private School Act at the 2021 SAAPAs has released his new four-track EP, Soke S’bone. The succinct listening experience is DJ Stokie’s appreciation album for the blessings he has had this year as on the day of release he wrote, “I’m so blessed, and I thank God every day for the blessings in my life.”
Soke S’bone is the four-track listening experience which sees DJ Stokie showcase why he is the pioneer of amapiano in Soweto. Respected for his pioneering of private school amapiano in the township, this EP showcases how to seamlessly blend private school and contemporary amapiano seamlessly into one.
Nothing encapsulates this notion more than the title track and lead single of the EP, Soke S’bone, featuring Sir Trill, Murumba Pitch, Nobantu Vilakazi and Loxion Deep. The anthem will soon be the summer anthem dominating the streets. However, the album is already packed with other notable listens including Ukhalelani, Stokoloko and Feelings.
In light of Friday being DJ Stokie Day, DJ Stokie is set to have his debut musical television special SUPERMAN LIVE on Channel O, DStv Channel 320 at 19:00. The star-studded special will feature Dali Wonga, Nia Long, Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa, just to mention a few all playing tribute to the legend.
