Johannesburg, South Africa – Monday 04 April, 2022 Establishing himself as one of the biggest stars of the global electronic music scene, Black Coffee’s diverse production style has gained him his first Grammy Award. He won the award under the Best/Electronic Album category at the 64th Grammy Awards that were held last night in Las Vegas and where hosted by fellow South African, Trevoh Noah

The DJ and Drive hitmaker was nominated alongside internationally recognized dance ensembles Weapon, Marshmello and Illenium . He collected the award in a clean white suit accompanied by his son, Esona.

Black Coffee joins a long list of legendary South African artists who have won this prestigious award, including choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the late Mariam Makeba and the late Hugh Masikela.

In his acceptance speech the star went on to further thank his maker for the gift of music and his family

“I want to thank God for the gift of music and being able to share it with the world and heal souls and help people go through whatever they’re going through in life,”

 

“I want to thank my fans all over the world and people who follow what I do, thank you so much for believing in me. I want to thank my family and my children.”
