Cruz Afrika opens up about his new distribution deal, new single and new reality show

JOHANNESBURG, MONDAY 20 OCTOBER 2025: Tshepo Modise, known professionally as Cruz Afrika, is preparing to release his new single “TAU” alongside Motswako rapper Notshi.

The single is taken from his upcoming EP “Half of Me Reloaded.”

“Tau means Lion in my home language of SeTswana. The lion is the king of the jungle. I am the king of Hip-Hop. A lion is a leader, faces danger head-on, and is a protector. I am here to protect the Hip Hop Legacy,” Cruz Afrika says.

“They say Hip-Hop is dead because of the new genres that are growing. If it is dead, then I am resurrecting it with this song. Two kings coming together to stand strong in the face of danger.”

The Taung-born al-lrounder secured a distribution partnership with Vydia, a leading music distributor that represents prominent artists, including Usher, Fetty Wap, Post Malone, and Lil Pump, to name a few.

Cruz Afrika, in conjunction with his record label Afrika Hotlines, finalized this lucrative distribution deal with Vydia and Gamma, a reputable United States-based music distributor.

After a two-year under the radar from the music scene, Cruz Afrika has made a comeback to the entertainment scene.

To add more to his list of achievements, the Tau rapper has secured a spot on Moja Love reality show titled “Love in the Keys” airing on 18 October on DStv channel 157.

“The two years I spent not releasing music, I spent working hard to make sure the music I release is of great quality,” Cruz says.

“We have also just finished shooting the reality show, which will show people another side to Cruz that people think they know.”

TAU will be released on 24 October 2025, a week after the reality TV show premiere.

Cruz Afrika attributes his aspirations for musical growth.

“I’ve grown. I aspire for my music to be wholesome and uplifting. I plan to drop a follow-up single in early February 2026, titled Mother’s Prayer, featuring my mother, an inspirational song, similar to Pray for Me, a hit song in my catalogue.”
