Chicastro dives into his debut album “Owengoma”

Cape Town, Friday 22nd September 2023 – Chicastro takes us through his musical world with his debut album and first offering of the year. This comes a year later after his introductory EP “Gentle Grooves”. With Gentle Grooves EP, which was release in September 2022 Chicastro was building up towards his debut album “Owengoma”. A blend of electrifying afrotech sounds with an African traditional fusion, with renowned guest vocalists to bring about a solid album.

An opening intro is “Makasana anthem” which translates to “Township anthem”, a strong blend of groove and crowd chanting cheering for Chicastro. Leading to “Impi yamajoni” with Makaziwe, who blends softly with her singing ability, to connecting on track number which features Liso The Musician titled “Ndicel’ithuba”. It really makes sense moving from Impi yamajoni to Ndicel’ithuba as it explains the hardships to seeking a chance/opportunity. The spiritual drive expands to songs like “Ndisize”
featuring Ivee Soul & “Abandifuni” with Anande, while blended with energetic grooves
like Arigato and Ubusuku-the night trilogy.

Through the album as it dives half way towards the end, the Cape Town based Afrotech producer and DJ links up with the Idols SA 2022 top 5 contestant, Zee Dyasi to deliver a soothing smooth dance love song. On “Siyobonana” which directly translates to “We will meet again” portrays a long distance love story that is not breakable despite the existence of long distance. While on “Bala lam” with Lissa Nellz, Chicastro re-assures black people to firm and take pride on their skin pigmentation. From there connects with the inspirational and motivational soulful great vibes of Shwelly M on “I am rising”, self-applauding defining rising above circumstances and achieving anything. Overall energy is what one needs for seat ins, long drives, grooves and music festivals.
