Johannesburg 11 May 2023: Red Bull BC One 2023 brings us a ground-breaking content format called “Break the Beat”. This was shot at Cape Town’s iconic Unfinished Bridge with the backdrop of Table Mountain. Six of South Africa’s top breakers were in a musical exchange with a live band, creating a unique and unforgettable experience for the breaking community. They included four-time Red Bull BC One champion, B-Boy The Curse, who went head to head with current winner B-Boy Toufeeq. 2022 winner B-Girl Mids went up against B-Boy Ruben, while fresh talent Swae-V jammed against three-time Red Bull BC One Champion B-Boy Meaty.
The Band featured drummers, Keno Carelse, Dane Paris, Sabu Jinyana on percussion, and Zwide Ndwandwe on the bass. The musical collective provided the perfect backdrop for the dancers to showcase their skills and creativity in this first-of-its-kind event
