Music superstar, Black Coffee, is taking Durban to the world in partnership with Durban Tourism. At an intimate, socially distanced event at the world-class Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi, the global music icon unveiled a one-of-a-kind vignette that will promote Durban to international music lovers and tourists who want to explore the city, the township cuisine and many activities on offer.

On the back of national roadshows that sought to stimulate and position Durban as the city of choice for not only a winter holiday, but a great remote workcation, and recently launching the Durban July Grand Experience, EThekwini Municipality Durban Tourism researched and developed a creative opportunity through collaboration with Nkosinathi Maphumulo, also popularly known as Black Coffee.

The event was hosted by the MC and content curator, Pamela Mtanga, at world-renowned Max’s Lifestyle with notable personalities including DJ Tira, Dj Socks, Junior De Rocka, Que (Distruction Boyz) Brenda Mhlongo and more. The event was also supported by local tourism stakeholders.

Chairperson of the Community Services Committee, Councillor Ntokozo Sibiya, delivering the keynote address on behalf of eThekwini Mayor, Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda, said: “Music and events have over the years proven to be among the biggest attractions for visitors. They help the City’s marketing initiatives. Research has shown that people travel to destinations because of certain events or to follow their favourite artist.

MTV Base and BET Africa have come on board to showcase this authentic Durban story and its rich experiences through content that will be beamed across ViacomCBS Networks Africa’s platforms. Music is life and Durban is the warmest city to be in this winter. With its diverse people, world-class attractions, hidden gems, coastal culinary and luxury, visitors will be spoiled for choice at this world-class city this travel season.
