Miami hospitality entrepreneur David Grutman, renowned for his high-profile restaurants and nightclubs, has entered the film and television industry with his newly launched production company, DGN Studios, as per THR exclusive




Backed by a first-look deal with the Emmy Award-winning Film 45, the studio’s focus includes documentary films, TV shows, and unscripted reality and competition series. Grutman, the founder of Groot Hospitality responsible for venues like The Goodtime hotel Miami Beach, Papi Steak, Komodo, Swan, and LIV Nightclub, aims to bring original content to life, drawing inspiration from his expertise in hospitality, entertainment, entrepreneurship, music, sports, and social media. DGN Studios, led by executive VP Evan Rosenfeld, has unveiled its initial project, a documentary on South African Grammy-winning jock/producer Black Coffee.



Grutman, known for his access to exclusive experiences, emphasizes the extraordinary journey of Black Coffee from an underground DJ to a global sensation representing South Africa.

 

The documentary aims to shed light on the artist’s remarkable achievements and his role as a voice and face for the country. Other projects in the pipeline include a competition-style show inspired by Grutman’s entrepreneurship class at Florida International University and a docu-series with Hulu following David “Papi” Einhorn, Grutman’s co-owner on Papi Steak.
