Today, South African rap phenom Blxckie releases his
eagerly anticipated major label debut EP, see u soon, via Def Jam Recordings. With this
project, the award-winning rapper is showcasing not only his dynamic rapping and singing
abilities, but also his willingness to incorporate different genres.

The EP contains previously released singles “all faxx” and “pull up,” as well as an appearance
from k1llbrady. Stretching to new sonic terrain, see u soon is an artful exploration of love,
lifestyle, and longing with just the right amount of sun-tinged melodies. Blxckie’s freshman
project arrives on the heels of his recent inclusion in the 2024 Sprite Limelight Campaign. This
year, Sprite personally handpicked him to launch their third season of music programming
alongside an array of other international artists – including Fireboy DML, XAMÃ, Lay Zhang,
Mahalia and America’s Doechii. Making history, Blxckie stands out as “the first Def Jam
Recordings artist to be picked for the program.”
At the end of last year, he made his Def Jam Recordings debut with “Back Into It.” Since its
release, the song has reeled in over 1 million streams and counting. Not to mention, he was the
featured artist for Apple Music’s Rap Life Africa playlist, which included gracing the cover. On
top of this, Blxckie wrapped up his first-ever North American tour supporting Dreamville’s own
BAS.
Fondly known to his following as SOMNYAMA, Blxckie has continually displayed a remarkable
work ethic – which is heard on countless hit records, culture shifting collaborations and at live
shows; and has extended his reach to broader audiences, earning him this international
breakthrough signing with renowned Hip-Hop label Def Jam.
Blxckie holds an impressive array of accolades including a South African Music Award for
Best Hip-Hop Album; a nomination at the Metro FM Music Awards; five nods at the South
African Hip-Hop Awards; two All Africa Music Awards nominations, and a BET Hip-Hop
Award nomination for Best International Flow in 2022.
