“I love this song,” raves Mike “Swift” Powell, Program Director at 93.9 WKYS. “I’ve played it five times in a row.”
In a recent interview at WPGC, Jru shared a few details about the new album with on-air personality Poet Taylor revealing that he began crafting his masterpiece at just 17 years old. When asked about his favorite cut, Jru pointed to the title track, saying, “’Life For Now’ is probably my favorite, I feel like I put my whole heart into that song and rhythmically it has influences from everything I grew up listening to.
Other Life For Now selections include the propulsive “97 Chevy,” the pulsating “Move On,” the uptempo “See You,” and the funk-drenched title track. Throughout the project, Jru Anthony explores the emotional highs and lows of life and relationships. It marks a strikingly mature album from an artist yet to enter his 20s.
“I know a lot of people have gone through some of the same things, so I just wanted a place for people to feel like they have somebody else to talk to,” Jru Anthony says. “It’s like a therapy album for me, and for everybody else.”
“sassy sonic salvos, infectious grooves and addictive beats… Life For Now has everything from R&B to chilled rock, from soul to ambient electronica, from modern beats to traditional musical moves”
