This past week, Spotify Greasy Tunes weaved its week three program- Mzansi Raps with RADAR Africa artist, Tyla’s exclusive first-look screening of her RADAR Africa documentary on Tuesday night. Tyla also performed her soon-to-be-released single Water.
In line with the week’s theme, well-known South African hip-hop artist Siya Metane joined The Sobering Podcast’s live recording on Wednesday, while Mzansi Raps headliner Nasty C performed some of his well-known hits including Hell Naw. The music, served alongside greasy foods, was brought by Okmalumkoolkat, DJ Akio, MashBeatz, Dee Koala, 25k, Buzzilee, DJ Kaymoworld, and more.
“South Africa’s music scene is uniquely vibrant on the continent with different artists like Tyla and Nasty C dominating the global scene with their homegrown sounds. Spotify Greasy Tunes is part of our commitment to increasing visibility for African artists and amplifying their voices,” says Warren Bokwe, Lead, Music Strategy and Operations for Spotify Sub-Saharan Africa.
Spotify Greasy Tunes’ fourth and final week program themed, ‘The Festival’, a local mix of flavours, concludes on the 30th of July.
